Workshops and Classes

Workshops & Classes

We offer a range of workshops and courses suitable for both the experienced quilter and the complete beginner and everyone in between.

Workshop Programme 2018

In the calendar to the right of this panel (on every page) you will find more information on each course and workshop. Find something you are interested in below and then 'hover' over the date with your cursor, and you will see the course title, click on the date and a new window will open to show you details.

We aim to ensure that we show where courses are full on the website as soon as we can, but sometimes there is a delay.  If a last minute place becomes available at the last minute we post on facebook.

Drop in Sessions – We run regular ‘Drop in’ sessions which are intended for you to come along for advice, if needed, or indeed just ‘you time’ for sewing, and of course you can use the sewing machines etc. Of course the shop will still be open for business. Check our website and if we are not teaching you are welcome to come along, or give us a call to check.

We charge £5.00 for a two and half hour session.

Sewing Group – the first and third Thursday of each month – 6pm – 8.30pm - Our sewing group is intended to be a more social event where we can all sit and chat, share knowledge and experience working alongside each other. We are happy to give some advice and support, as will anyone who is there, but this is not a teaching session.  £5.00 per session

PLEASE NOTE:    Occassionally we will cancel a drop in or Sewing Group to accommodate a workshop or course.  We will post information in the shop, our newsletter, facebook and on our web pages.

Workshops for Beginners

Workshops for Beginners

We offer a range of one day workshops for beginners that provide an introduction to patchwork and quilting.  We try to vary them so that we teach some different techniques.

We know that not everyone wants to make a quilt but often wants to learn a new or differenct technique.  We offer lots of different one day workshops where you can use the panel you make up as a cushion top or insert as a panel in a quilt.  Currently in the programme we have a 'Simple Patchwork Cushion' and a Prairee Point Cushion.

Ever wondered what all those accessories are for? Have you ever created a sample swatch of all your machine can do? Have you ever cleaned your machine? This is the workshop is for you if you answer no to any of these questions. Bring your machine, and its manual along and we will help you get to grips with what your machine can do. Use our maaltchines to practice if you wish.

Cost: £15.00 for a two hour consultation

Frequently Asked Questions

When are the workshops and courses held?
We try to offer our workshops on different days and different times so that they are open to as many as possible.

How many people can attend ?

We want you to enjoy our classes so we limit our number to six people.

How do I pay and what is included in the price?

Fees are payable at the time of booking.  For longer course, we allow you to pay in installments, however you will need

to pay a minimum of £20.00 deposit to secure a place at the time of booking.  All fees must be paid in full before the

course starts.

What happens if you need to cancel?

If you cancel less than 14 days before the course start date and  we are unable to resell your place, then you will forfeit any fees

paid.  If you need to cancel, you must advise us at the earliest opportunity so that we can try to fill your place.  If we are able to

do this, we will refund your payment, less £10.00

What facilities are available nearby?

Our shop is on a purpose built enterprise centre.  There are good clean toilet facilities, including some with disabled

acccess. There is a cafe on site for those of you wishing to purchase a lunch (weekdays only 7am to 3pm).   We

provide hot and cold drinks and have a fridge that you can store your lunch in.   There is some parking on site, however please

do not park in numbered bays unless they have a cone with our name on. You can park on Shearway Road (the signs have

been left in place to deter overnight lorry drivers parking).
